Strength: compared to Constitution.
Constitution - gave congress right to levy taxes on the states - court systems which created to deal with issues between citizens or states - regulate trade Articles of Confederation - could only request states to pay taxes - no federal courts - can't regulate trade
Weakness: - Causes: Financial - debts unpaid; Foreign - European nations disrespected new nation; Domestic - Shay's Rebellion
- Effects: created a loose confederation of the states and a weak central government, leaving most of power to the state government. Stronger federal government became apparent.
