European Immigration to the United Staes (1 janv. 1880 – 1 janv. 1920)

Description:

Between 1880-1920, America experienced a rapid growth in industrialization and urbanization. Because of this, the US received over 20 million immigrants from all over Europe. In the beginning of the 1890s, the majority of European immigrants were from Central, Eastern, and Southern Europe. In 1907, 1.3 million immigrants entered the US illegally, causing Congress to enact legislation requiring immigrants over 16 to pass a literacy test, and in the 1920s immigration quotas were established.
