Description:

Antoine Lavoisier (1743-1794) was a French philosopher, considered to be the pioneer of modern chemistry, that came up with the Law of Conservation of Mass (1777), stating that matter is never created or destroyed, simply rearranged. He discovered this after his experiment in which he created Hg+O from Hg. He created a table of 33 simple substances, many of which were elements.
