He proved to be a astute military strategist and savvy leader. Lincoln’s greatest known accomplishments during his presidency was his Emancipation Proclamation which paved the way for slavery’s abolition, while his Gettysburg Address still stands as one of the most famous speeches in American history. In April 1865, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth. Lincoln will forever be remembered as on the greatest US presidents in history.
