Crisis of the 12th Century (6 mars 1153 – 21 sept. 1203)

Description:

The Crisis of the Twelfth Century was a period of Roman History that saw a large number of barbarian invasions and the collapse of the Valentinian Compromise, which had been preventing religious conflict in the empire. While the Crisis didn’t collapse the empire it allowed regional governors and generals to seize more power setting the stage for the greater crisis to come. The period is considered to have begun in 1153 AUC with the Goths, under Alaric invade over the Danube, beginning the fourth Gothic War. The period ended with the death of Emperor Aetius in 1203 AUC.
