Nagid of Egypt (1 janv. 952 – 1 janv. 1560)
Description:
The nagid of Egypt served a similar function to the Exilarch, and had authority over the Jews in Egypt as well as often the Land of Israel and Syria.The nagid was recognized by the caliph as the temporal and spritual leader of all the Jews, with power over civil and criminal law as well as rabbinic appointments.
