Description:
Christian Kingdoms surrounded by Muslims.
Any attempt by Muslims to penetrate into Nubia was met with resistance.
Many of the Christian peoples turned inward and lived in fortified towns.
Later a new dynasty appeared with King Lalibela and great churches were carved from stone.
Had a maintained language and remained in isolation from other peoples.
Would remain fiercely independent from all peoples, including European.
