Description:

What is it? The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a protest in which African Americans boycotted the Montgomery bus system from December 5th, 1955, to December 20th, 1956, when the Supreme Court ordered Montgomery segregated busses were unconstitutional. It began as a result of Rosa Parks being arrested for not giving up her seat to a white man, and the movement was to fight for desegregation and racial equality of the bus.
Who was Involved? Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr, many other protestors who participated in the boycott
Where did it Happen? Montgomery, Alabama
Major Cause: Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her seat to a white man, which angered many of the black population and they did this protest as a fight for change
Major Effect: At the end, the Court ruled that Montgomery had to change its bus policies and allow for integration.
