Seneca Falls Convention (19 juill. 1848 – 20 juill. 1848)

Description:

This was the first woman’s rights convention held in the United States and it held about 200 women. It was organized by Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who met in London at the anti-slavery convention. They had not been allowed on the floor because they were women and that is what encouraged them to start this movement in the United States. On the first day of the convention, the women gathered and the Declaration of Sentiments and Grievances, which was molded closely to the Declaration of Independence was read, indicating the suffering that women went through at that time and calling them to take action for their rights. This would lead to more conventions and gatherings of women to fight for their rights, as there would be many more in the following years.
