Description:

on March 3, 1913, the parade began. The scene turned violent when a slew of “male onlookers attacked the suffragists”, first verbally with “insults and obscenities, and then with physical violence, while the police stood back and watched.” The next day, the suffragist group and their parade “made headlines” across the country and suffrage “became a popular topic of discussion among politicians and the general public alike.”
