Description:
Richard Maddox improved a previous invention of the wet plate camera by changing the plate to dry gelatine plates. These new plate were similar in quality and speed with the wet plates. Richard Maddox was first known for his photomicrography, the photography of an image through a microscope. A dry plate is a glass plate coated i a gelatin emulsion of silver bromide. These dry plates were better because people were able to use this whenever.The difference between the wet plate and the dry plate is that, with the wet plate you have to prepare it before exposure where as in the dry plate it could be made and stored and used at any time.
