Description:

Andrew Jackson, born in 1767, was America’s seventh president. His term was from 1829-1837. His vice presidents were John C. Calhoun (1829-1832) and Martin Van Buren (1833-1837). During his time as president, Jackson became the leader of the new Democratic party. Jackson was a supporter of state’s rights and a fan of extending slavery into the western territories. He also was in charge of the Indian Removal Act, resulting in the famous Trail of Tears as thousands of Indians were forced off of their land.
