- George S. Patton Jr. led the Allies in the Battle of The Bulge- The battle took place in the Ardennes region in Belgium, Luxembourg, and France
- Hitler ordered the German troops to break through the Allied lines and recapture the Belgian port of Antwerp, hoping it would cut the Allies supply lines
- The Germans lost 120,000 troops, 600 tanks, and assault guns, and 1,600 planes in the freezing battle. The loss was greater than that of the Allies and it left the Germans weakened, forcing them to retreat
