Description:
- Justice Geoffrey Lawrence led the trials
- The Allied leaders knew the surviving Nazi leaders must be punished
- The trials took place in Nuremberg, Germany
- Following the world's discovery of Hitler's death camps, the Allies put 24 surviving Nazi leaders on trail for their crimes including those against humanity, peace, and war crimes
- 12 of the 24 were sentenced to death and most of those remaining were sent to prison, with nearly 200 more Nazis charged later on. The trials set an important example that individuals will always be held responsible for their actions, even in times of war
