- Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower selected General Omar Bradley to lead the Allies in the Invasion- The war was on the beach of Normandy, France.
- The invasion was also codenamed "Operation Overlord"
- Allied troops initiated the largest amphibious in history. They landed all around Normandy at different beaches such as Omaha which saw a traumatic amount of combat
- The Allied powers changed the tide of the war during this invasion by successfully liberating North-West Europe from Nazi control
