Philippe Verdelot (1 janv. 1480 – 1 janv. 1530)
Description:
He was a French composer who spent most of his time in Italy. Commonly considered to be the father of the Italian madrigal, he was quite simplistic compared to later madrigal developments, balancing homophonic and imitative textures for amateurs. Text painting also became much more popular in later madrigals, with Verdelot’s having relatively few instances of it.
