Josquin Desprez (1 janv. 1450 – 1 janv. 1521)

Description:

Josquin was a French composer of extreme popularity, with his music being performed over a century after his death. His music was highly varied and all the parts had an equal melodic and contrapuntal interest.

His chansons well encompassed the late fifteenth century style, with clarity in phrasing, form, tonal organisation, cluid melodies, and use of imitation and homophony.

His motets were of a diverse style and drew text from varying sources. They had clear tonal centers, clear phrases and sections, elegant counterpoint, variety in the texture and style

Josquin's masses were varied, and some use a secular cantus firmus.
