Description:

One day in September someone named Leon Czolgosz shot McKinley in New York. He died 8 days later. Roosevelt was later sworn in and became the 26th President of the United States. Roosevelt believed that the government should mediate forces, he thought that was the way to stabilize society. Roosevelt has a Square Deal which was a domestic program that aimed to battle things such as trusts that could potentially threaten trade. The National Reclamation Act was Roosevelt's first major achievement. He sent aside millions of acres of land. Roosevelt wanted to bring the United States out of isolationism. He followed a big-stick policy. He claimed his greatest accomplishment was facilitating the construction of the Panama Canal.
