Description:

Because of the birth of humanism, economic expansion and the support of the Medici family, Florence was the beacon and center of renaissance and fine art. The first humanist, Francis Petrarch was born in a town near Florence, and he wrote in Italian which positively contributed to the revival of ancient Latin and classical literature somehow. In the meantime, Florence, as the center of European trade, especially wool trade, was rich and countless wealthy merchants lived in the city. In an opulent lifestyle, they spent tremendous money building mansions in the city, villas in the country and cathedrals. The medici family handled papal finances and generously supported arts in and education. Therefore helping florence flourish.
