Start:After Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia on July 28th, 1914. On April 6th, 1917, the US entered war after German U-boats sunk 3 US merchant ships.
End:
On November 11, 1918, the Allied Powers (including United Kingdom, France, Russia, Italy, and US) declared victory over the Central Powers (including Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria) after 4 years and 3 months of fighting. A total of 5,525,000 men of the Allied Powers were dead, including 116,516 from the US.
