Description:

The Cold War was a political rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union. This developed after WWII despite the nations' alliance during the war. The Soviet Union was spreading communism throughout Europe and was intent on spreading it worldwide. The United States was also trying to influence Europe and as a result becomes divided between the Soviets and America by the Iron Curtain, an originally non-physical barrier. In 1949, the Soviet Union tested their first atomic bomb, making them the only nation able to rival the United States with their own nuclear weapons. Throughout the Cold War, there was many indirect confrontations between the two countries and their allies, such as the Cuban missile crisis and the Vietnam war. Eventually, the Soviets run out of money and they can no longer fund their nuclear weapons. The berlin wall falls, and the Soviet Union crumbles, marking the end of the Cold War.
