Constitutional Convention (25 mai 1787 – 17 sept. 1787)
Description:
55 delegates representing every state, except Rhode Island met in Philadelphia. They met at the Pennsylvania State House. In attendance was; Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, James Madison, and Alexander Hamilton. No one was allowed to talk about the meeting, it was very secretive. The convention decided to create a whole new government. The new Constitution had three branches; executive, judicial, and legislative. A system of checks and balances was also put into place, to protect against corruption. Once, the Constitution was approved by the convention it was sent to the states for ratification.
