Description:
James I of England was the king of Scotland from 1567 to 1625, and the king of England from 1603 to 1625. He was the first Stuart king of England and an advocate for an absolutist monarchy. The only child of Mary, Queen of Scots, James had many conflicts with the those of the English parliament who were wary of James's Scottish descent.
