Antisthenes (1 janv. 445 av. J.-C. – 31 déc. 365 av. J.-C.)

Description:

Antisthenes presently gains renown from his status as either a founder or a forerunner of Cynicism, and is believed to have been the first cynic philosopher. Antisthenes believed that happiness was dependent on moral virtue and that virtue could be instilled through teaching. His philosophical interests engage ethics rather than metaphysics or epistemology, and he advocates the practice of virtue through an ascetic life and the cultivation of wisdom.
"Not to unlearn what you have learned is the most necessary kind of learning."
