Description:

On January 7, after strong artillery preparation, units of the 2nd Turkestan Corps of Przhevalsky launched an attack and captured the front line of the enemy trenches on the Gai-Dag mountains. The Turks began to counterattack. But the Turkish command threw their units into battle hastily and scattered, and the Turkestan corps, repelling oncoming blows, continued to gradually move forward. On January 12, the general offensive of the 2nd Turkestan and 1st Caucasian corps began. For two days of continuous fighting, the Russian corps crushed the left northern flank of the Turkish defense, and on January 14 they went behind the enemy’s Keprikey position, threatening its communications with Erzurum. Heavy, bloody oncoming fights began.
