Guido of Arezzo (1 janv. 991 – 1 janv. 1033)
Description:
Italian monk who invented the Guidonian hand to teach boys how to sing chant psalms, considered the inventor of neumatic notation, wrote Micrologus treatise on music; hymn for solmization was "Ut quaent Laxis;" Guido describes a system in which music is organized around groups of six consecutive pitches, hence hexachord.
