China After Mao (21 sept. 1974 – 31 déc. 1979)
Description:
Mao Zedong dies in 1976Now Jiang Qing (Mao’s Widow) who wanted to lead the radical communists to carry out Mao’s old ways. Was opposed by the moderates on the other side who wanted to restore order.
The Gang of Four which included Jiang Qing (who wanted to continue the Cultural Revolution) went to trial facing charges of treason and were sentenced to life in prison.
Deng Xiaoping comes into power and wnats to make new reforms known as the four modernizations (goals to improve agriculture, industry, science and technology/national defense).
