Description:
The Industrial Era worked toward the goal of combatting increasing costs of disciplinary measures in prison. The industrial Era introduced inmate labor that creates a self sustaining system of running prisons. This Era came to an end with the Ashurst Sumners Act which restricted interstate commerce in prison made goods.
