Description:
After Queen Helena of Adiabene (in what is now Iraq) converted to Judaism, the Jewish community in Adiabene thrived. The rulers of Adiabene corresponded with and supported many leading rabbis, and their religious practices are described in the Gemara. Queen Helena had a palace built in Jerusalem where she spent many years. During the Judean Revolt, the king of Adiabene supported the Jewish rebels against the Roman Empire.Important figures: Helena of Adiabene, Monobaz II
