Rocketdyne - Nevada Field Laboratory (NFL) (1 janv. 1960 – 1 janv. 1970)

Description:

Rocketdyne operated the vast facility on nearly 200 square miles of land mostly east of
Pyramid Highway. The Washoe County map in "Nevada, The Silver State," p. 106, 1970,
includes the text "Atomic Test Site" erroneously across the road between Spanish Springs
and Pyramid Lake. Despite rumours this was an atomic test site, the area was used for
Rocket motor research during the 60's.

Rocketdyne, then a division of North American Aviation, operated a rocket engine testing facility
known as the Nevada Field Laboratory (NFL), located approximately 20 miles north of the Reno/Sparks area. Rocketdyne, formerly a division of Rockwell International, is now a part of The Boeing Company.
