Henryk Walezy (1 mai 1573 – 1 mai 1575)
Description:
The first king-elect of Poland-Lithuania.
Made unpopular decisions and was universally despised. Escaped to become Henry III of France.
Upon their election to the throne, new kings were obliged to sign two documents:
- The Henrician Articles - stated the fundamental principles of governance and constitutional law in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. A sort of permanent constitution
- Pacta Conventa - the personal undertakings promised by the king.
