He was of a higher classMao along with the communists try and get the peasants to join them
But they were hesitant at first but as they learned that they were trying to help them they created the red army
During world war 2 the two groups decided to come together when they felt threatened by the japanese.
Although this was temporary they fought a strong guerrilla campaign
