- Trade and commercial agreements imposed on China
-Korean independence recognised

- Liaodong Peninsula forced to be given up by Germany, Russia, and France (the Tipple Intervention)
- This bred feelings of injustice and frustration towards the West
- It increased nationalism and militarism in Japan
- Increased militarism had the goal of being able to defend Japans interests against the West if it were to happen again
