Bienio Negro (19 nov 1933 – 19 nov 1935)

Description:

Also known as the "black two years," these two years were marked by an increase in violence following the Spanish General Election in November of 1933 and the rise of the CEDA (Spanish Confederation of Autonomous Rights). Radical socialist, communists, and anarchists grew angrier with the fascist-controlled government as a result of the elimination of reform projects by the CEDA-controlled government, including agrarian reform, public secular schools, and public works projects. Political violence trademarked this time period, as numerous violent strikes and political assassinations took place. The instability of the nation during this time period was a main contributor to the divide of the right-wing and the left-wing and the civil war.
