Description:

Saul was the first king of the Kingdom of Israel and Judah. He was born in Jerusalem in 1079 BC. Saul was the son of Kish, and apart of the tribe of Benjamin. He was appointed king by Samuel in 1046 BC. The task he was assigned was to unite the tribes and make them a strong nation in order to fight against others. Alongside his son Jonathan, Saul led the Israelite armies to defeat the Philistines. Although he was the first king, his attitude was not suited to be a king. He crossed the line with God by kidnapping another king. Since Saul disobeyed the divine command, he lost God's blessing.
