The Great Depression (1 août 1929 – 1 mars 1939)

Description:

The Great Depression was the greatest economic crisis. It began in August 1929 and ended 10 years later in March of 1939.

CAUSES & EFFECTS
CAUSE 1- The U.S stock market crash
CAUSE 2- The lack of increase in money supplies to combat deflation.

EFFECT 1- Unemployment. In Germany 2/5 of the workforce (6 million) were unemployed.
EFFECT 2- WWII: The Great Depression caused millions to become unemployed, in Germany many citizens ceased to vote for mainstream parties and instead began to vote for more radical political parties. This propelled Hitler into the public eye, which ultimately lead to WWII.
