TREATY OF VERSAILLES (28 juin 1919 – 21 janv. 1920)

Description:

After the end of World War 1, during a peace conference - the victorious allies concluded a series of peace treaties, these were to be enforced to the defeated central powers.
The most important of these treaties, was the 'Treaty of Versailles'. This treaty, made by the allies, who suffered major casualties, and left Europe devastated - held Germany responsible for the war, and imposed major penalties on their territory, payments in reparations and minimization of military. This of course left the Allies satisfied, but Germany weaker, with lack of military and in an extreme debt. This was a major factor in the inflation crisis Germany faced. It was felt that Europe was trying to minimize Germany's economic recovery after the war, creating a bitterness between the rivaling countries.
