1883-1884: Fence Cutter's War (1 janv. 1883 – 30 déc. 1884)
Description:
Ranches and farms were now surrounded by fences to keep cattle in and to mark property, but rival ranchers/farmers cut one another´s fences and spooked cattle because of disputes, starting feuds - several dead, dozens wounded. Especially when big ranchers sectioned off public land in their fences, small farmers would cut the fences. They also clashed with sheepherders that were ethnically or religiously different over land, but herders eventually retreated to mountains. 1883-1884
