Charles Babbage (26 déc. 1791 – 18 oct. 1871)
Description:
Charles babbage was one of the founders of modern computing.
REASONS WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT:
1) He was funded by the government to carry out his plan for the Difference Engine, a machine that could carry out certain calculations with 20 decimal place accuracy
2) he developed plans for the Analytical Engine, a machine that could carry out any arithmetical operation if given punch cards as instructions. This machine was never built, however.
3) Both of these machines are early forms of modern computers.
