Alan Turing (23 juin 1912 – 7 juin 1954)
Description:
- Turing was an English mathematician whose greatest contribution to computer science through the Turing Machine. It basically states that automatic computation cannot solve all mathematical problems, which forms the basis of the modern theory of computation.
- Additionally, Turing envisioned multiple Turing Machines, each one responsible for an algorithm. He theorized that a universal Turing Machine could do all tasks possible. Essentially, Turing had created a computer through theory.
- Turing is also responsible for the Turing Test. Basically, if a computer reacted, acted, and interacted like a sentient being, it was a sentient being. This forms the basis of the debate for artificial intelligence today.
