Charles Babbage (26 déc. 1791 – 18 oct. 1871)
Description:
- Babbage asked the question, "why can't physical machines also do mental work?" This completely revolutionized history because until then, the definition of a computer was a PERSON who did complex calculations, not a MACHINE.
- He designed the first mechanical comptuer, the analytical machine. While it wasn't actually built, it was still designed, and the first general-purpose comptuer to be built.
- Not only this, Babbage's computer also ran an algorithim, a code or a program so to say. Made by Ada Lovelace, her work done on Babbage's machine would go onto create the subfield of Scientific Computing.
