Description:

Religion drove the wars. French kings tried to stop the spread of Calvinism by persecuting Huguenots (French Calvinists).

War of Three Henries was a big turning point of the conflict. Henry duke of Guise, Henry III, and Henry Navarre. Henry of Navaree claimed the throne and converted to Catholicism (had first been Catholic, then became Calvinist, then went back).
