Mamluk Sultanate (1 janv. 1250 – 1 janv. 1517)
Description:
mamluks were former slaves who were purchased and given elite military training, received an Islamic education and given emancipation.
This was a 1 generation military caste because once that generation was freed, you would need to purchase a whole new group of mamluks to train. This was very expensive.
In 1250 a group of mamluks rose up and killed the sultan. They established the Mamluk Sultanate.
