Olive Branch Petition (5 juill. 1775 – 8 juill. 1775)
Description:
The colonists' last attempt to avoid war with Britain. In this document, the colonists declared their loyalty to Britain and stated their rights as new British citizens. The statement was rejected by King George III but was still published in newspapers and spread the word to many.
A document can go a long way and is one of the most civil actions to take. Even though the king did turn it down, it was almost as effective, if not as effective, as every rebellion, congress, or pamphlet, as it still informed the people.
