Iranian Revolution (1 janv. 1978 – 1 févr. 1979)
Description:
The overthrow of the Iranian Shah Reza Pahlavi and the formation of an Islamic republic under grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. It replaced a pro-western authoritarian monarchy with an anti-western theocracy. The revolution itself was massively popular, and it lacked many of the traditional causes of revolution: peasant rebellion, financial crisis, or military intervention into a weak government. It was also relatively nonviolent and peaceful.
