-great economic expansion in the U.S. from new technology and automobiles. Henry Ford and the Model T-automotive sales led to the growth of many other industries
-the idea of the 'new woman': shorter skirts, new haircuts, women in more public jobs, wore more visible makeup
-more than 1million Americans were playing in the Stock Market and it was unregulated
-summer of 1929 - shares hit an all-time high, but people started to worry and sell their shares
