Treaty of Utrecht (9 avr. 1713 – 9 sept. 1714)
Description:
The Treaty of Utrecht was a series of treaties between France and England, the Netherlands, and the Holy Roman Empire that ended the War of Spanish Succession. The treaty gave Louis XIV's grandson, Philip V, the throne of Spain. The treaty also said that France and Spain would never be ruled by the same monarch. Louis XIV had to give up most of the territory he had taken, and the war benefited England at the expense of France and Spain. Louis XIV remained in power in France until his death in 1715.
