Muhammad was a merchant in Mecca on the Arabian Peninsula. He was visited by an angel and became a prophet when he was meditating in a cave. He then created the religion of Islam. He united the Arabian peninsula under Islam and fought a holy war for the city of Mecca. His religion would become one of the most popular ever. Key concept 3.2
