Boyle (1 janv. 1654 – 1 janv. 1658)

Description:

Boyle mainly studied gases. He was a Anglo-Irish natural philosopher, chemist, physicist, and inventor; He discussed the possibility of atoms existing, however his work was greatly impeded by the church.
He attempted alchemy or turning regular metals into gold.
He made gas chambers to study from.
Unlike the greek philosophers, he was doing physical experiments. He proposed that elements are composed of 'corpuscles' of various types and sizes that are able to organize themselves into groups that represent different chemical substances. He also was able to distinguish between a mixture and a compound.
He stressed organization of atoms/'atomos'/'corpuslces' and is sometimes called the Father of Chemistry for his extensive work on materials.Boyle actually defined this pressure within gases as the product of atomic forces.
Using the scientific method, determined the quantitative properties of gases.
Boyle's discoveries led to laws that apply to most gases.
He deduced that elements are different from compounds;
compounds consisted of more than one element.
Separating and isolating components of compounds usually produced materials that were pure. This process led to the understanding that atoms of all single purified element are identical.
