Congressional Reconstruction (1 janv. 1865 – 31 mars 1877)

Description:

In 1865, the defeated southern states had not yet been readmitted to the Union and were under military rule. This gave congress an unusual opportunity to take the lead in passing measures to promote civil rights, and the period known as Congressional Reconstruction led to more radical change than during any other period before the 1960s.
